Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) - National Higher Education Mission is a systematic scheme of development for higher education in India initiated in the year 2013 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The RUSA, a centrally sponsored scheme aims at providing strategic funding to higher educational institutions throughout the country. Funding is provided by the centre through the State Governments and Union Territories (UT), in coordination with the central Project Appraisal Board which will monitor the academic, administrative and financial advancements taken under the scheme.
The key objectives of RUSA are to improve access, equity and quality in higher education through planned development of higher education at the state level. Such planning will include creating new academic institutions, expanding and upgrading the existing ones, developing institutions that are self-reliant in terms of quality education, professionally managed, and characterized by greater inclination towards research and provide students with education that is relevant to them as well the nation as a whole.
Rajiv Gandhi Arts and Science College, Puducherry is taking sincere efforts to utilize the RUSA grants in keeping view of all-round development of the college. The following committee has been constituted for RUSA in order to prepare the institution plan and execute of the work followed by a mechanism prescribed by RUSA Mission authority.
