ANTI-RAGGING CELL (ARC)
Your Power is Respect: Erase Ragging from Our Campus!!
Ragging remains a troubling issue within our higher education system. It has tragically claimed numerous lives and derailed the careers of thousands of promising students over the years. Though some view it as a form of ‘familiarization’ or an ‘initiation into the real world’ for newcomers, we at RGASC prohibit ragging inside the campus. Stopping ragging is crucial for protecting students' mental health and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment. Additionally, erasing ragging upholds institutional integrity and promotes respect and fairness among all students.
The Government of India has implemented regulations to combat ragging in educational institutions through various acts and directives. As per the directions of the UGC and AICTE the college has constituted the Anti-ragging cell.
Definition: Ragging includes any act of physical or psychological harassment, compulsion, or bullying against new students.
Key functions of the cell
1. Regular Monitoring: The members regularly interact with the students and detect early signs of ragging and take effort to curb it.
2. Consistent Counselling: Orientation programs for senior and junior students are given to explain about the negative impacts of ragging. Counselling and support services are also provided for victims of ragging to help them recover and reintegrate into the educational community.
3. Surprise Inspection: The committee members, Heads of departments and class in-charges do surprise checks in class rooms, common areas and play ground to curb ragging.
4. Reporting Mechanisms: Students can report the incidents to the Anti-ragging cell or grievance redressal cell via emails, physical submission box, and direct contact with designated officials. It is ensured that complaints are handled confidentially and promptly.
5. Disciplinary Actions: Strict penalties, including expulsion, suspension, or fines, are prescribed for those found guilty of ragging.
6. Cultural and Recreational Activities: Organizing cultural events, recreational activities, and social gatherings that celebrate women's achievements are organized regularly to promote a positive campus culture.
Students are made to fill Anti-Ragging undertaking form given by the UGC through online mode in the link: https://www.antiragging.in/affidavit_registration_disclaimer.html. Reference Numbers are generated and the same is submitted to the UGC.
